The Etruscans in Volterra, of course, that was important in the Era hinterland and just as important a way of connecting to the Arno and the plain of Pisa. Then came the Romans with their allocations of land to the legionaries - traces of centuries are still clearly visible - then the Lombards with their castles, like Alice, a beautiful photograph shows residence in its new phase in history. After Mille, Era also has long been disputed between Volterra, Pisa and Florence with feats of arms and continuous change of heart just as sensational.
